Some FAQs about AEL

Why use AEL?

The aim of AEL is to enable member firms to source quality law firms across Europe and provide lawyers in various countries with the aim of assisting in locating professional advisers in another jurisdiction.

How does it work?

All the law firms within AEL are independent law firms. There are no fee sharing or similar arrangements with referring law firms. Clients are introduced to an individual at a member firm who will ensure that they are given access to the right lawyers within the firm. Clients will negotiate fees and engagements direct with the law firm. Occasionally, on cross-border type transactions, clients ask one member law firm to coordinate the activities of others.

Where can I find out more about AEL?

A directory of members including contact names and details for each member law firm is available here. Please note the directory is updated every two years and information online will be more up-to-date.

How long has AEL been established?

Many of the member firms of AEL have been working together for over 20 years. As the network has expanded, new law firms have joined. Regular Special Interest Group meetings are held to ensure that a quality and consistent service is provided to all clients.
